I have finally got something up on my soon to be blog/portfolio website.

Usually at this point, I’d say take a look around and peruse some fine examples of web design and development that have taken shape under the craftsmanship of my own two hands! But I’ve been too much of a perfectionist and haven’t got it together yet, so you can’t. Instead, I’m going to ask you to come back soon as there will be something here, I promise!

Site launch: YOU GOT PAPPED

YOU GOT PAPPED: Brighton scenes. Brighton people. Brighton photos. Simple.

YOU GOT PAPPED is my latest development project to feel the giddy warmth of live site visitors heating it’s servers CPUs. Built from scratch in Ruby on Rails the website hosts over 20,000 high-resolution photos, taking advantage of the vast storage scalability of Amazon S3 to keep costs low and availability high.

During the re-build a number of new features have been added such as thumb-nailed galleries, slideshows and visitor comments as well as expanding the areas of the site to encompass business listings, full back issues and of course the all-important advertising revenues. Migrating from the ailing ASP.net backend of their old site has also brought with it a number of additional benefits such as a much faster browsing experience and fully SEO compatible page names and code.

This will definitely be one to watch going into the future as there are some big plans to take this site to the next level this year.
